Tramway workers trying to organize in Brisbane, Australia, are fired for wearing their union badges to work in defiance of a management ban. That night, 10,000 people rallied in support of the workers and by the end of the month, 43 unions in the city were out on Queensland’s first general strike, which lasted five weeks.
