January 8The first program of the Screen Guild Theatre radio show airs. Through the radio show – which ran until 1952 – Screen Actors Guild members raised money for the Motion Picture Relief Fund to build the Motion Picture Country House and Hospital, a retirement community and hospital for actors in need, located in Woodland Hills, California.
